Might this do it ?

right click on start > properties > customize > advanced tab at top > uncheck "list my most recently opened documents.

That didn't work. I need to stop the recent files that are being stored on the

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent

I think those are the ones saving off onto the C Drive.

Thank for your help

why do you want to change the directory?

i think that is how office creates its Document History [aka: Recently Opened Documents, aka: Recent Documents]: Office creates shortcuts [very small sizes] to the recently created documents, so it can load and display them in the recent documents listing

What is happening is that it is putting those recent shortcuts on the C drive on my server. I logged in as the IUSR account and opened excel so it can create the directories but it didn't create them under the Computer Name\ASPNET directory it create an IUSR directory and created it uder that. Is there any way to stop these from being created on the root drive of my server?
