boot password protection

I always think it advisable to think very carefully before doing anything like this. If the password, for whatever reason, is lost/forgotten/otherwise irretrievable you then have a large box of expensive junk.

OK, it may be possible to recover but it isn't easy (if it was what was the point of password protecting it in the first place?)

You can't think "it won't happen to me", I've seen it so many times - the last time when this "friend of a friend" had lost his porn collection (hidden from his wife) because he had forgotten the password to his "secure" filing system.

its really not hard to recover passwords, you can either boot in safe mode and then change the password using cmd or can also use some tools already out their :).

As I said, if it's easy to defeat the password, there isn't much point in having it in the first place!
