I need to get into the windows recovery console, but I need the administrator password to do it, which I don't know. I found this online how to make windows recovery not ask for a password:

Start | Run | Regedit

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryConsole

Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1

Will this really work? I'm skeptical about changing things in the registry, and I'm not very computer-savy. If anyone could confirm this, it be very much appreciated.

I personally am no expert whatsoever, but I would be most reluctant to touch the registry.

Not a place to dabble, unless you know what you are doing. ;)

Some of the forum members are extremely knowledgeable.

Try to wait for them to log in to the forum. :)
