blue_ice
Hi , this is my first post . So please forgive me if I give incomplete/unimportant details.Well , lately my computer is getting slow and it hangs often. The drive C: is also filled with files and only 1GB is left.So I moved many files. After that when I checked , there was still a lot of files left in C: but I couldnt find it.Later I found that there was a folder called C:\Windows\Installer which occupied more that 3GB of the C: drive. My question is , is it safe to move that folder to some other drive like D: or E: (which has a lot of space left )or is it important for the functioning of Windows??.Please help me..Also can you tell how to speed up my computer. I use Avast antivirus , also use registry and temp cleaners.I do regular scans and clear the temp e'day. Please help me.
-pops-
Three initial questions:What is the size of your "C" drive?Do you defragment the drives?Do you use anything like Ccleaner to clean up the drives?
Scarecrow Man
To remove files in the C:\Windows\Installer folder, you should use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.http://support.microsoft.com//kb/290301Do not delete files without knowing what they are. The files stored in this folder are cached installer files. You will need them if you ever plan to repair, add/remove features of, or uninstall any program that uses the Microsoft Installer.
