Hi , this is my first post . So please forgive me if I give incomplete/unimportant details.

Well , lately my computer is getting slow and it hangs often.

The drive C: is also filled with files and only 1GB is left.

So I moved many files. After that when I checked , there was still a lot of files left in C: but I couldnt find it.

Later I found that there was a folder called C:\Windows\Installer which occupied more that 3GB of the C: drive.

My question is , is it safe to move that folder to some other drive like D: or E: (which has a lot of space left )

or is it important for the functioning of Windows??.

Please help me..

Also can you tell how to speed up my computer. I use Avast antivirus , also use registry and temp cleaners.

I do regular scans and clear the temp e'day.

Please help me.

To remove files in the C:\Windows\Installer folder, you should use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.

http://support.microsoft.com//kb/290301

Do not delete files without knowing what they are. The files stored in this folder are cached installer files. You will need them if you ever plan to repair, add/remove features of, or uninstall any program that uses the Microsoft Installer.
