AlanHo Posted October 2, 2007 Report Share Posted October 2, 2007 I have just had cause to restore my computer back to August when I did a reformat of my hard drive and a clean install of Vista plus all my programmes. This required me to validate Vista and Office 2007 during the installation of all software. After ensuring the computer was running OK and using CCleaner to clean up all file and registry debris, I took an Acronis back-up.After restoring this back up yesterday - upon reboot - I was presented with a MS warning that I may be the victim of counterfeit software and was presented with a link to check. This opened a page asking me to validate my software - which produced a message telling me that the software could not be validated and to check back later.I kept trying for about 30 minutes before I had to go out for a while. Upon returning a couple of hours later the reboot produced the same warning message - but this time after a bit of faffing about I managed to validate the software and all is running fine.So - even though Vista and Office 2007 were validated before I took the Acronis back-up - upon restoring 2 months later it produces a situation where Vista thinks it has not been validated.Strange.....?
