Scarthy © ® ™
I am wondering about all the bots I am seeing on WF. They seem to have greatly increased in numbers over the years. Are they really necessary? Most days there are more bots than people? Is it a ££ thing? Some on today include:-Google.comInktomi SpiderMSN..and there are even more than this at times. <--- forget the names of them for now ?You may think I am paranoid but I don't really appreciate being tracked or watched over by anything in life. Google is a good search engine and I know that they increase their 'searchability' by building profile information on users in order to give them the results that best match their needs. Am I old fashioned? Is this the way forward? I am even finding myself 'not signing in' and browsing as a guest. And some days "The Lounge" is protected as a guest and other days open for all to see (maybe old cookie data still in browser until it's closed? <--- Will check this...).G-Zapper and Customize Google me thinks ;)I would love to hear your thought's on this (and so would the bots - wuhahahahahahahaha  ) <--- Evil Laugh Appologies if it's been covered before (I don't like searching either)! Chris
The bots just index the webpage, so when people search on search engines we get found.
andsome
The bots just index the webpage, so when people search on search engines we get found.I seem to recall that as a result of this indexing at least one person said that they had been directed here to get an answer to a problem. Scarthy © ® ™
...and they even view the profiles?
-pops-
...and they even view the profiles? My profile doesn't reveal anything about who I actually am - neither does yours so, I'm not worried. Some people on here do know who I am and where I live - that's because I've told them but my location offered on my profile could mean any one of about 150,000+ people. andsome
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that profiles can be read by unregistered users.

I went to the 'Online Users' list <http://www.windowsforum.org/forums/index.php?act=online> and saw a bot viewing a profile thats all :) Maybe the bots are people really, being nosey?
