I've been brought a dual booting PC - XP + Ubuntu 7.04.The network card - a Realtek RTL-8029(AS) clone seems to be detected by Ubuntu (shows in the Hardware details) and works fine in XP. However, Ubuntu doesn't seem to give any network/internet access using it.I've tried it on my router and get exactly the same problem as the owner does.Is there any way to uninstall and then reinstall the card in Ubuntu ? - as it should be auto detected according to this :-https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsWiredNetworkCardsRealtek Any help please ?Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
catgate Posted November 3, 2007 Report Share Posted November 3, 2007 In my limited experience Ubuntu is very good when it comes to "just running" stuff because most pnp stuff is covered by default.It may be worth asking on http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/ . Alan2273 Posted November 3, 2007 Report Share Posted November 3, 2007 What kernel version is it?, as It was a bug that has not been resolved in kernel 2.6.15, 16 & 17.There is a workaround but it involves downloading the driver and recompiling the kernel.
