New Motherboard

Recommended Posts

In my last Epistle to the Corinthians :-

http://www.windowsforum.org/forums/index.p...mp;#entry246727

I mentioned the possibility of a duff motherboard, And so I took unto myself an new one of exceeding goodness. Yea namely one callethed a ASRock P4i65G wrappethed in fancy shielding polywhatsit and gaily coloured cartoning and fancy stuffs withall.

I have this day popped it in and all seemethed well until I essayed an installation of the driver(s) for the board as a final step before going onto setting up my BT router modem.

I popped in the AsRock / intel CD and after apparently successfully loading what drivers it needed for a variety of things It then invited me to load the onboard sound system drivers. So I told it to go ahead. After a few seconds of good and faithful servant behaviour it told me it could not find a succession of files. These were;- ksproxy.ax ksdate.ax ksclockf.ax ksinterf.ax ksupintf.ax ks.sys .

I went and had a quick google but could find little out about them other than there have been lots of others looking for them and with little apparent success.

It seems that my motherboard is supposed to be 98SE friendly so can any good samaritan provide enlightenment please?

Have you tried the 4th one down on this page ?

http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=P4I65G&s=

- C-Media AC97 Integrate003

You may need to manually add the sound devices and point the install at the correct folder for your O/S

PS - your link in the first post doesn't seem to be right ?

Thanks for your quick reply Boris.

It has been that sort of day..

Not only was the link up the spout but the gist of my post was also proved to be duff.

Not being one to wait idly for someone to reply I went and had another firtle, and then another firtle and then damn me if the rotten machine didn't go and find what it said was not there.

I now have sound. I have also had enough for one day and so am going to bed.

On the morrow I shall try to get to the bottom of why Control panel> System has a big yellow blob against USB when the Motherboard CD has gone through the motions of installing USB2 drivers.
