scottygio
I installed a nvidia graphics card onto my desktop. The drivers installed successfully but after the drivers installed i could not get a picture from the graphics card, i must disconnect the monitor from the graphics card and connect to the onboard graphics port. I checked under display adaptors and both displays are present(intel onboard graphics and nvidia graphics card). Nvidia told me i must go into the bios settings, and change INIT DISPLAY from onboard to pci adaptor. However my bios settings do not have this function, it has a display setting which allows you two choices AUTO and ONBOARD.How can i tell windows to use the graphics card to output images and not the onboard graphics, many thanksscott
Boris
Have you tried using the AUTO option in your BIOS ?

Alan2273
After looking at your BIOS, the setting you need is under the heading Integrated devices, then look for Primary Video Controller, you can change it there.
scottygio
i changed it from onboard to auto. The screen just stays blank, and i have to put the monitor cable back onto the onboard graphics in order to see the windows page. Thanks alot for your input, will not be buying a graphics card from dell again, scott
trackrat
If the graphics card does not work, RMA it back to Dell and get your money back. There is nothing worse than buying new hardware and finding it is D.O.A.
