Alan2273
I have been with Blueyonder (now Virgin Media) for about 6 or 7 years and have always found that there service has been excellent.Till yesterday when I had trouble with pages timing out before they could load.So I switched to my brothers computer and exactly the same problem occurred on his.So on to the free phone number only to be told i had to ring an 0900 number at 25pence a minute., so I did not bother. On the evening it was back up to full speed, so I assumed it was just a glitch.Today i tried to pay for something online and the payment page was timing out before it could load, and eventually the company rang me and asked if I wanted to do the transaction over the phone, which i did.So I rang the 0906 number and told them my problem and he had me go through tests which i had already done (ipconfig ping etc) and I even had to disconnect the router and connect directly to one of the computers. The call lasted 20 minutes = £5.00.Then he said he would have to consult with his superiors on the problem and that he would phone me back.10 minutes later he did phone me back and said the problem was there end so I would not be charged for the phone call.I tried to tell them the fault was at there end, but they have to go through there standard tests first, which take about 12 minutes, so that is £3.00 guaranteed on every phone call. They must be making a fortune out of these phone calls.I did not tell them I use Linux as they would probably have said they do not support that OS.Rant over, I feel better now, and the connection is back up to full speed again. Mike567
Do they not earn a percentage of that phone call?

andsome
I expressed anger to them when I first heard about this charge, and was told then that if they were at fault the call would not be charged. Evidently, a large proportion of calls are entirely the customers fault, Malware, viruses etc.

CurlyWhirly
i have NTL broadband (also virgin media now) and has run so slow since virgin took overAre you referring to the ADSL or the cable service? The cable service is supposed to be okay apart from throttling at peak times and this only affects a small percentage of people who are heavy users.
