Windows home premium was preinstalled and i didnt get a Vista DVD...my qestion is: If i (by any reson) wants to format my hdd and reinstall vista, since i didnt get a installation DVD, can i download a copy of vista and install with my activation key (which is located under my notebook)??? is it legal? does microsoft have a download for it?bless up! -pops- Posted December 23, 2007 Report Share Posted December 23, 2007 Many commercial computer makers give instructions for copying the hidden partition which contains all of the operating system files to enable you to do a recovery operation in the event of a hard drive failure. Check in your computer manual to see if you have this.Depending on the supplier, it may be possible for you to install a copy of your operating system from a disk and use your current key to activate. CaptnCoffee Posted December 23, 2007 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2007 i did get a "recovery cd" but i rather reinstall the whole Os than use something like that.i havent called them, but if they are gonna turn down my suggesion of sending a copy, is there a way to get a vista dvd and use the same reg key? i rather not use a pirated edition of vista since i have a legit edition... Some have a full copy of Windows but are restricted to be used on that particular model computer. Others just have the facility to access a hidden part of the current hard drive.
