You'll get good printouts up to 7 x 5, 10 x 8 are OK.Mine has a rechargable lithion-ion battery wish last for ages. If the one you choose hasn't then get a good battery charger and 2 or 3 spare sets of batteries, at least 1700mAh.If you keep the rear screen on permanent some cameras 'eat' batteries.Many cameras come with 8 or 16 meg memory cards but don't worry as 64 meg can be bought for about £25.Unless you want to do professional stuff then you'll pick up a 2 Megapix from £129 upwards, according to the extras like zoom.I read dpreview and decided on a Nikon Coolpix 775. I've got a pair of digital cufflinks - and an Olympus Camedia. Got the camera from Argos for around £180 and at the time the memory cards were half price when you bought the camera. It's not super-duper compared with the more expensive cameras but it takes fine pictures and I got some good software with it. Argos is always worth checking out because they have some good deals. Guest Dan Posted February 13, 2003 Report Share Posted February 13, 2003 Thanks for everyone's input.I have since bought a digicam and am very pleased with it (although the outlay has meant the film scanner I was also after will have to wait for another year).For anyone interested I got a Canon S45 which is a 4 megapixel camera with an awful lot of manual control (to say nothing of the ruddy large manual). Anyhow it's a pocket unit with the lenscap built into the on button and part of the body. Anyone else interested should buy an additional battery and a larger CF card.
