Mike D Posted January 20, 2008 Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 I wanted to remove a program today, went into control panel/Add or Remove Programs. It lists all of my programs normally, with one exception.. there is no Add/Remove button. Normally it would be off to the rihgt when you highlught a program, but nothing. I did have a problem the other day with User admin stuff, so I tinkered around probavly where I shouldn't have. I can't figure out how to get this back.I am running Windows XP Media Center edition.I am not connected to a network, and I am the only userI have also tried to restore and no change! ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 Welcome to the Windows Forum.Some applications intentionally do not place an entry into Add/Remove Programs, in order to make it harder to get rid of them. What application is it you want to remove?Some programs list their uninstaller in their Program Files entry. It will usually need the original install.log file to uninstall. The problem is that the actual button to remove is missing. The program lists all programs I ahve, but I am not able to remove anything that is listed. AlanHo Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 Have you tried right clicking on the programme in control panel then click on "uninstall" If that fails to work, try using CCLeaner. This is not a long term fix because it will not bring your button back - but I had problems uninstalling a particular programme via control panel. It flatly refused. juansifu Posted January 22, 2008 Report Share Posted January 22, 2008 Do you have a Administrator Account on your computer. You can check by going to Start, Control Panel then User Accounts.
