Not sure, possibly graphics

Ok, not sure where to put this.

I haven't had any more memory dumps, but the game (Railroads) is still slow when you get into it, ie. it stops for a long time when you lay a long track, it is almost instant near the start of the game.

What I need to know is if I upgrade my graphics card to an ASUS 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTV out PCI-E would it stop this from happening.

I am open to other suggestions for a graphics card, but it can cost no more than the one I have listed.

Speaking from my usual standpoint of abysmal ignorance, my first thought would be a memory, somewhere, being a bit over full.

But then the pinnacle of my games is Mahjongg.

I did look at the memory that windows uses from the hard drive and as far as I can make out it is set to let windows decide, I can't remember where to change it though. I have 2 gig of I think 533 MHz normal ram which is twice the recommended, but as XP, I am led to believe doesn't recognise 4 gig there is no point putting it in, that would be the cheapest way out.

I can tell you that the path to it in W98SE was Start>.Cont.Panel>System> Performance>Virtual Mem.

I am afraid I still live in the dark ages as far as M$ is concerned.

The recommendation used to be to limit Virt.Mem to about four times RAM max but that was when RAM was much smaller than today.
