Mike567 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Share Posted January 27, 2008 It's trying to draw too much power.This problem is common on my laptop too, I find plugging it into another usb port works.But its more of a on off problem, I would think that it could be something else pulling too much power, could try removing any other USB things or do things like turning down brightness turning off wireless devices etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted January 27, 2008 Report Share Posted January 27, 2008 I've seen this message on a laptop using battery power. When on mains, it was OK.The effect depends on the drive unit as well. AlanHo Posted January 27, 2008 Report Share Posted January 27, 2008 I have the same problem with my 2 year old Dell laptop - which has only 2 USB ports - one of which I use for a mouse.
