rambler587 Posted February 3, 2008 Report Share Posted February 3, 2008 Hi all, I'm using IE7 and have just found that when I select File> Send link by email the link doesn't appear in the email (Outlook 2003). I can get round it by copying and pasting the url but it should work, shouldn't it? I've just spent 2 hours on the MS support site but the only thing I can find relates to a hotfix for IE6 and not IE7. Any ideas please? I am pretty sure it used to work, after upgrading to IE 7, but can't be sure. Could I have downloaded some security upgrade to SP 2 which is blocking it? -pops- Posted February 3, 2008 Report Share Posted February 3, 2008 I've always used copy and paste to insert URLs/web links into emails - it never occurred to me to do it differently.Having just looked at the procedure, it seems odd to me to send an link to an email client from a web browser rather than directly copying and pasting.Sorry I can't help directly but thanks for showing me something about Outlook which I didn't know. Irene Posted February 3, 2008 Report Share Posted February 3, 2008 It certainly works for me, but I am using IE7 and Outlook 2002 SP3.So, bearing in mind that I am using Office 2002....In IE7, try going to Tools, Internet Options, Programs and make sure that against email it is Microsoft Outlook.Or, perhaps in Outlook, you could try going to Help, Detect and Repair. (I can send files Ok, 'Andsome', it is just links that disappear) - finally found the answer in Outlook online help, so have posted the link here in case the question comes up again: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/outlook/...=CL100626971033 It is a mystery to me why there seems to be no option to overide the security setting in Outlook - yet another case of Microsoft fixing something that ain't broke!
