stephmayes
HiIn my 3rd bedroom i have set up a desktop pc and fax. There is also my sky+ box which is not as a matter of course connected to the wall. I share the fax line-in with Sky+ if I want to go interactive. All of the appliances are connected to one BT socket via double telephone socket.So..why is it when I send a fax, it disconnects my direct ethernet connected broadband connection. My connection is via a Lynksys router (ethernet). To get it going again I have to unplug the router and restart it again.any ideas?Steph
Irene
I just discovered today, that a fax requires a dial-up connection. This is probably why your broadband connections drops out when you use your fax.Perhaps there maybe someone who will have a work-around solution to avoid having to unplug and restart your router. :D
Scarecrow Man
In Canada, we require a filter to be put on every phone/fax device other than the modem itself. Do you require such filters? Perhaps you require one on your fax line as well.
-pops-
The filter notion is a good one to check up.Some think it is the broadband component of the phone signal which needs the filter when, in fact, it is the analogue (including FAX) side that requires the high frequency digital code to be removed.Apologies if you do have a filter but it is something I've known happen previously by someone who had a filter on the phone but never thought about the FAX machine. stephmayes
The filter thing could be the resolution. I will try it..If it doesnt work I suspect 'irene' has hit the nail on the headThankyou all...
