Help Disable my Internet

Hello,

Can anyone help me with this? I have a computer that I share with two roommates. Unfortunately, one of my roommates tends to get on and stay on the internet late in to the night looking up sports stuff. As the computer is in the living room and I also sleep in the living room, this late night internet surfing can be very annoying to my trying to get some sleep. So, instead of me being awaken and kept awake thru the wee hours of the night. I'd like to figure out how i can safely turn off and on my internet access in a way that the casual user (my roommate) will not be able to turn it back on. I want this to be as inconspicuous as possible. I realize that I could lock down my computer. And some of you may want to suggest that I just tell my roommate to please not use my computer past certain times. But, I have my reasons for wanting to do it this way, so if you know of a solution I would greatly appreciate it. What would be even better would be if there was a way to have the internet connection turned off at a certain time like from midnight until 10:00am or something like that.

Anyone have any solutions?

A friend disables her internet when she is going out to prevent her kids from using the computer by changing the ethernet connection cable each time.

She has crippled a spare cable and swaps it with the working one whenever she wants to prevent access.

A bit fiddly - but the ploy has worked for 4 months now - despite the best efforts of her brood to discover her secret.

Hope they don't read this forum, AlanHo!
