DVD & CD/DVD drive problem.

Need some help on this one.

A friend asked me to look at his computer because whenever he puts a blank disk in it says disk not accessable and when I clicked on properties for both of the drives, it showed the format as RAW, ( to me that is a photgraphic extension) and as he is a keen photographer I am assuming somehow he has changed the drives to RAW files.

The drives are a HP DVD640 lightscribe and a LG combi CDRW/DVD.

He is running XP SP2 home and there is no virus on it.

Can anyone suggest a way to get these drives back to normal, so when you put a disk in it can be written to.

I seem to recall having this problem a long time ago. I just wish I could remember how I cured it!!

This is a very obvious answer, but I thought it worth mentioning....

Has your friend acidentally disabled the drive?
