For Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disks, connect the hard disk cable to a master channel SATA connector on the motherboard. • Connect another device as a master, such as another disk drive or a CD drive or DVD drive. • Change your PATA cables, your SATA cable, or your IDE cable even if the cable does not appear worn. • Install Windows on a new hard disk because it is possible that your hard disk or your Windows installation may be corrupted. If you're fairly tech savvy, go to your mini dump folder (%SystemRoot%\Minidump by default) and look at the one of the mini-dumps. If you see a consistent error codes, that likely points to faulty RAM. Have you added any new hardware recently?Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 975e2a30, parameter4 00000000.Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 80517150, parameter3 bacdbb68, parameter4 bacdb864.Error code 10000050, parameter1 e4c910ab, parameter2 00000001, parameter3 bfb08df6, parameter4 00000001.Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bfb455f3, parameter3 95521ab4, parameter4 00000000.Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c000001d, parameter2 bfb9b1b4, parameter3 95567b80, parameter4 00000000.Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bfb971b0, parameter3 95942bec, parameter4 00000000.Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 805b2caf, parameter3 95872a2c, parameter4 00000000.This was is an example mini-dump from a friend who had a similar tech-support call.
