Irene
Hello Keima, welcome to the forum. :D Which Windows platform are you using? In the Knowledge Base article, it does say to backup the registry. Did you by any chance do that?
AlanHo
If the problem is new and Outlook worked before - why not use System Restore to go back to when things worked OK.

Irene
There is a lot of information in the Knowledge base reference.Did you print it off before you started?Go through the steps and confirm that you are happy with the steps that you took. There are other Members on the forum who are more experienced in registry matters than I, so please be patient and wait for other responses.... some are in opposite timescales to the UK. :D
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Outlook does not need a password to start up, but it needs a password to connect to the mail server. If you don't know that password, no registry editing will help you. (KB290684 is about Outlook not retaining a password.)What is your Outlook setup - POP/SMTP, IMAP, or Exchange Server? (Check in Control Panel | Mail if you are unsure.)P.S. you need to contact your mail admin or ISP to have your mail server password reset. keima
Hi Guys,Thank you all for your thoughts on this.I have now resolved the problem by resetting my permisions and then delaeting the registry key outlined in the Microsoft knowlege base. After then re entering my details in outlook, all is OK :D
