They can conflict and confuse the Windows system files, especially the Security Centre, resulting in a lock up and system crash. You may then end up with no firewall functioning. Try it if you like, but you're likely to end up with a real mess.The only exception is to have both a hardware firewall and a software firewall that do not conflict (check with the manufacturers first).
