DVD Burning

Hi - I have nero 6 [downgraded from 8] and I cannot burn to dual layer discs! I've followed some threads, and have found out that I need to enable DMA - not exactly sure what this means, but apparently it should solve my problem. I followed some instructions which said to go to device manager and open the tree IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, but it's not listed!

I have tried to update the firmware - I downloaded it from the Optiarc website, but when I try and run the .exe file, it says that it can't find the drive.

I can play DVD movies from my drive [dual layer discs] and I can also read dual layer discs that have been burnt using the same program on a different computer. I'm running XP Professional x64.

I've found that a lot of other people have this same issue, but no one has posted a solution on any forum! HELP!!!

and before anyone asks, I have a DVD +/- DL RW drive. (the Optiarc 5170s].

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, and all the best,

dRolan.

-pops- - I've burnt a couple of dual layer DVD-Rs successfully with Nero 6 :) using XP Pro - but only 32bit

I believe the Optiarc 5170s is a SATA drive - so I'm not 100% sure where the controllers would show under Device Manager
