catgate Posted April 16, 2008 Report Share Posted April 16, 2008 I have just come across a funny thing.Whilst I was writing my query concerning .pps there was a crash and an almost simultaneous oath, from the kitchen. Management had somehow effected the rapid free fall descent to the tiled floor of the better set of kitchen scales from a head high cupboard shelf. When I looked at the remains there appeared to be some small damage to the battery compartment lid, that rendered it "unfit for purpose" but the rest of the machine, including the innards, looked fine, even the strain gauge on the weighing beam looked pristine. So I collected the batteries and popped them in. Joy of joys the display panel came to life. But it would not indicate a weight, no matter what weight was applied. For some reason, probably curiosity, I held the body down and "lifted" the weighing beam....I got negative weight displayed!I knew it could not be due to the batteries being in the wrong way round, but just for the hell of it I switched them, and as I expected nothing at all happened, (but very quickly I might add).It seemed like a bin job from the moment I heard the crash, but I would be interested to hear if anyone has any views on the uphill weighing effect.
