bbo
Recently, when trying to access some websites using Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox(latests version, can't think of number) the pages will take ages to load and now, becoming frquent, not loading at all.we have done scans using SpyBot- search and destroy, AVG free antivirus and AdAware with the results come up with over 300 malicios and harmfull files, many of them trojan horses let in by files such as smss.exe.also, when we access a desktop icon then close it, E.G open up my computer, then close it, it comes up with an error report, saying, "send report" or "Don't send report".anyone that could be any help to me and my family, as the computer is my parents, i would much appreciate it.BBOP.S we are using Windows XP OS with SP.2any other infomation required, we shall be checking the post quite often, so feel free to ask. Dencandy
Since you've now got AVG Free I suggest you download this from AVG and go through it carefully stage by stage to see if you can clean up your computer. Apart from downloading the various utilities mentioned there & updating them, avoid connecting to the internet until your computer is completely clean. Also get yourself a 2-way firewall, such as Comodo Free or Sygate Free to replace the Windows 1-way firewall.Hopefully, as you clean things up you should get less and less of those error messages (which are simply telling you that your systems in a real mess).Let this forum know how you get on. rong
I would use AVG anti spyware free http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=asf and A2 free http://emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ then when you are clear use some free programs to help you stay clean, I use the above along with Zone Alarm firewall AVG anti virus and a program called Spyware Blaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html also free. I only use FF and have a couple of programs that also help me when using the internet, and not wanting to tempt fate, do not have problems. andsome
Tell your parents to run at least a couple of Anti Malware scans weekly, using a different scanner each time, and whatever you choose keep them up to date. :D
