scarletjames
Gota DVD problem ….. I blame Nero!!! First happened few weeks ago, no icons for the new DVD external burner or the Dell CD/DVD player were showing in My Computer Window .. Plus I was having trouble with Burning a DVD from My Docs where I had saved a video which I had copied a few times successfully … So I restored to a date when everything was working .. but still kept happening …. Then yesterday Nero told me it was my last day of the Decoder Trial and I must buy it or Nero 8 ….and it said goodbye … I then wanted to send a song as an attachment to a friend as I have done few times before and was told I had no itunes it was corrupt… So I deleted all itunes stuff and downloaded from the site … AgainGot the song to attach to an email but it played everything in the library as well .. weird.. Then wanted to burn something and the same problem as before no DVD icons on My Comp Window.. no (D) or (E) Can`t play CDs or DVDs at all Device Manager is showing 2 frightening Yellow Boxes with ! in them .. for both the Dell TSS.CORP.CDRW/DVD TSH492B AND the esternal DVD Burner that I bought with Nero ..`Windows can`t upload Driver .. Driver might be corrupt or missing Code 32 …` Suggests uninstall the Device … and then reinstall … Yea!!!! Have yet againe deleted Nero and itunes … And still no DVD /CD player showing in My Comp.. p.s. I was told that Nero does take over, which I know!!! plus it did seem to insist that I had to download the Trial Nero Decoder, but then as I said when the Trial was over the blackmail started by taking everything away and Windows has no software to burn DVDs... is this right??? So why did I buy a DVD Burner and made to take the Nero 7 Essentials which now have bits missing .. aaarghghgh!!!Do so hope you can help me again .. thankyou....scarlet

scarletjames
I have unplugged and uninstalled the external DVD Burner and everthing Nero DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES still showing Yellow Circle around (! ) the Dell TSS.CORP.CDRW/DVD TSH492B...Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)This is the message from Device Manager for the Dell TSS.CORP.CDRW/DVD TSH492B...If I uninstall this I have no way to reinstall it as I can`t insert any CD or DVD anywhere on /in my computerThe Hardware Wizard asks for a disk .. but nowhere to put it ... or it suggests a restore date .. can`t do this as I have just installed a router which is actually working .. so don`t want to mess that up aswell ...Really don`t know how these DVD/CD drivers got correupted .. I still blame Nero ... Tried to get help from Dell but my computer is too old for them even to live chat with me .. and to fone will cost a fortune ....Thank you Allan ... what do I do now ... :)
Alan2273
What operating system are you running. If it is XP with SP2, just go into Device manager and right click on the drives then left click Uninstall (from the drop down box) for the faulty drive(s), then reboot your computer and it should reload the drivers automatically, there is no need to worry about having a CD to load the drivers, as XP will do it automatically. Scarecrow Man
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htmRun this script and it should fix you right up. I also blame Nero. It IS the cause in this case. :lol:Alternatively you can manually go into the registry and delete any lowerfilter or upperfilter keys that may be present. Remember to make a backup before doing anything with your registry.1) Log on with Administrative Privileges2 ) Open the Registry Editor:a ) Go to Start then select Run.b ) Type regedit and click OK.3 ) Backup you registry by:a ) Highlight My Computer by clicking on it once.b ) Click File (Windows XP) or Registry (Windows 2000), then ExportRegistry File.c ) Select export range All; to ensure your entire registry is backed upcompletely.d ) Select where you would like to save this backup, name the File, andClick on the SAVE button.4 ) Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values:a ) Go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}b ) Highlight this key by left clicking on it once.c ) On the right hand side delete the values Upperfilters and Lowerfilters.5 ) Restart your computer. Scarecrow Man
Cheers Scarlet. In the future, I suggest CDBurnerXP for your burning needs as opposed to Nero.http://cdburnerxp.se/
