MattyD Posted May 2, 2008 Report Share Posted May 2, 2008 Hey, all. I'm new to these forums and i joined for one reason... i have no idea what i'm doing. What i want to do is reboot? my computer. I want to uninstall everything, EVERYTHING and then reinstall everything for a fresh start. The problem is i don't know how to even start this process. I've got a stack of cds that came with my computer and i'd like to know how to uninstall everything and then in what order to reinstall everything. So, what i'd like to know is where to post my question and if there is a guide on how to do this. btw i have Microsoft Office Xp and i can list all these other disks if need be. thanks for any help. No REAL problems to be honest. I just think my computer is under-performing. I've had hacker issues in the past but, i've since got zone alarm, avg, and spybot search and destroy so i'm g2g on the protection front. (or at least i think i am) I just feel my computer is bogged down with un used software, tons of downloaded songs, etc. Just stuff thats been piling up over the couple years i've had this pc. What i'd mainly like to change is the user accounts? When i turn on the computer it goes to a screen and there are 3 different accounts and my family only uses one of them.. so it seems kinda pointless to have the other two. andsome Posted May 3, 2008 Report Share Posted May 3, 2008 Guides on installing XP.Print the above guides which refer to you.First of all though. Download and install C Cleaner . Choose 'other builds', at the bottom. This will avoid the dreaded Yahoo Tool bar. Once installed open up the program, and before running it select OPTIONS/COOKIES and drag from left to right all those cookies that you don't want to remove. If there are non, visit any sites where you need to sign on and then save the cookies as illustrated. Next run the cleaner and you will be surprised at how much rubbish it will remove. Then click on Registry and run the cleaner again. You will then be given the option to back up before removing registry rubbish. Again, you will be surprised. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted May 3, 2008 Report Share Posted May 3, 2008 I agree with 'andsome; there is very rarely a need to reinstall from scratch.As a next step I suggest you download, install, and run Startup Inspector. Use the Consult button, then uncheck the things you don't want to load at Windows Startup. Check here with the forum if you are unsure what you can safely uncheck. rong Posted May 3, 2008 Report Share Posted May 3, 2008 When you say everything, do you mean a new install of XP (if you have XP), if so just find the CD that has XP written on it and find a guide to formatting and reinstalling, someone will point you to one.
