Which software is the file saved from?If it had been deleted, not over-written, you may have been able to use RECUVA. As far as I know, it will not recover from an instance like yours. Consequently he/she has lost the original contents. Sometimes, depending on the software being used - like say, Excel - there is a background autosave option, which I believe may facilitate a recovery.
