djflair1 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Share Posted June 3, 2008 Im trying to install sp3 but am having problems as i keep having this message come upThere is not enough disk space on c:\windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$ to install service pack 3 setup requires a minimum of 4 additional mb of free space or if you also want to archive the files for uninstallation set up requires 4 addtional mb of free spaceI have 16gb free on the hard drive im not sure why its saying this so any help would be appreciated.Thanks! Try this ?To work around this problem, add a registry key as follows:1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter.2. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Setup 3. In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value4. Dencandy Posted June 4, 2008 Report Share Posted June 4, 2008 Did you turn System Restore back on? You might regret it if you don't. By way of info- turning off System Restore eliminates all your restore points. If you need to free up space I suggest reducing the amount of space allocated to System Restore rather than turning it off & losing them all. One of the main reasons for temporarily turning off System Restore is when you have a piece of malware that keeps re-installing itself from a restore file. Temporarily turning it off stops that happening by deleting all the restore files. Once the computer is clean you can turn it back on again (but you've lost all your restore points).
