Date resets and can't be changed without system restore

Ok... So here is what happens to me, and I don't know why:

As soon as I get to a certain date, Windows resets the dates to exactly 3 years ago and I cannot change the date to outside of 2005. It just won't let me.

The only 2 ways I can change the date out of 2005 is to set the date and time to 31th Dec 23:59 2005, and wait for it to click over to 2006. But then it quickly resets to 2005 after I reset the PC. The other option is to do a system restore back to an earlier date, but as soon as I set the date to "whatever date it keeps doing it at (currently June 12th)" it switches back exactly 3 from that date again after I restart the PC.

I have had this problem before about 6 months ago and I though I had a wierd virus that my virus protection (MacAfee) couldn't get rid of. So I bought a new hardrive and rebuilt the sytem.

It has now happened again.. WTF!?!?

Also just like last time when I got this bug my system keeps restarting itself after about 1-3 minutes. The only way to fix it is to QUICKLY do a system restore before it restarts the system.

Can anybody please help as I have no idea what to do and I don't want to buy another HDD every time this happens.

Boot your PC in DOS mode and THEN run the system restore. I think this can be done.

Here is one way i've found that it can be done....

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q279736/

Alternatively....

1. Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to

start your computer in Safe Mode with a command prompt.

2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an

account that has administrator credentials.

3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your

computer to an earlier state.

would probably be, the better way of doing it though. Saves using discs and whatever i reckon. :D
