Free Programs

Recommended Posts

I had Panda Internet Security 2008 and it was pretty good at finding spyware, viruses, and it prevented people from going into my computer. The only issue I had with it was that my computer had a lot of CPU Usage going on while I had the program being there. I installed Avast anti-virus and the Spyware Doctor anti-Spyware, but I don't think they're doing that well. I tried Spybot for the anti-spyware but it isn't good as it once was.

Can any of you recommend me some good anti-virus program (free one), some good anti-spyware program (free one), and a good firewall program (free one) for my computer?

I don't understand this sentence; Spybot is getting better and better with every release, and the current 1.6 beta version scans so fast that it's almost frightening. Spybot is still one of the very best available, and it should be on every computer (together with one or two other alternate anti-spwares).

I found you have to experiment a little with your combination of computer security. Some programmes work smoothly together, some do not. Change one item in the combination & everything slows down; change something else &, Hey Presto, everything goes OK.

I do agree that Spybot S&D is now up amongst the best once again so far as its protection is concerned - and it now has some very useful additional features. My only minor gripe is that it's a bit fiddly to update Immunise.

Agreed. You need to run immunise twice, once from the left of the screen, then once from the top. :D
