hi,

whenever i watch video after 10-15 mins my computer shuts down. its a pretty new desktop. i've tried cleaning the fan as i thought it might be getting hot but that didn't help. seems to be fine for all other tasks, internet, music etc. i've tried viewing stuff on the bbc iplayer, sky clips and movies with media player classic and all of them just shut down my system. it'll switch back on after a few mins and windows boots up as normal. any suggestions how i could fix the problem would be great?

cheers

Most modern computer have a monitoring facility to keep a check on temperature, voltages, fan speeds etc., etc.

Can you activate that so you can see if it is overheating which is causing your problem. From your description, it does seem very likely. It may be that a fan is not moving sufficient air, possibly not working at all, blowing in the wrong direction or several other reasons.
