oblivion187 Posted July 27, 2008 Report Share Posted July 27, 2008 What's the cause of this!, the computer updates automatically and it gets really annoying each time it does it because then I can't play any games because of a "D3D acceleration error". My half life 2 game just gets to start up screen then just shuts off..If i update my graphics card, the computer just restarts but that's useless info cuz i don't ever plan to update my graphics card because i don't think i'll ever be able to bypass that problem.But I can fix the graphics card by simply uninstalling drivers then reinstalling them through CD.So, what in the updates are causing my graphics card to crap up on me? is nvidia (My on board graphics card) being updated thorugh it disabling my ATI graphics card? A Nvidia(onboard) and an ATI?? Do check & install the latest drivers for your card(s?)Do you have the latest DirectX version that your card support?? If not then download it and install it. You can also run dxdiag.exe to get more info about the problem. Description: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/190900 Also check that if every time you do the Auto Updates, if there is an update that keeps showing up every time... If for example you are somehow disabling/corrupting it somehow through the manual re-installation of drivers (from the CD) then you will maybe find which update causes the problem.
