Boris
Assuming that the current drive is 2.5" + IDE ? - look here :-http://www.ebuyer.com/cat/Hard-Drives/subc...ptop-IDE-DrivesI have never yet replaced a Dell laptop H/D so have no idea if "normal" ones are compatible
Scarecrow Man
Anything will work. 2.5" and EIDE not sata (unless specified) since that is an older system, chances of it being sata are slim. You can always plug the service tag into http://support.dell.com and make sure you are buying the same kind.
Jayno
Boris and ScarecrowSorry for this late reply, but thanks very much to both of you for your advice. You're correct in guessing that its an IDE drive and that there are several possibilities within the 2.5" format, not just the 60Gb and 80Gb options from Dell's original spec options for the 410 laptop. I haven't decided for sure yet on which route to take but there are some nice Seagate drives out there which I'm investigating further. B)Punch your service tag in the dell website, see what options is gives you then google/ebay them as they are always cheaper than the dell site, we do this all the time when something needs replacing on a dell machine at work..
