Which Windows Should I Be Using

I bought a new pc right after Vista came out, and needless to say it has a Vista OS on it. I am going to post the basic specs and processor I have and would love if someone could tell me which Windows OS is best for it. This Vista locks up, slows it down to a lag, and if I try to game or even do simple things it just locks up. It has been an ongoing battle and I really just want to be able to effectivly use my pc. Some people have said to get a better version of Vista and others say to drop back to XP. Basically I just need HELP!!! LOL. Any and all suggestions are appreciated, thank you all in advance.

This is the pc model I have: http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/FX530_Seri...009295sp3.shtml

This is the processor: Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 4 MB cache, non-HT, Conroe LGA775, EM64T, XD, EIST, VT)

This should run any of the four O/S that Gateway offer with that model

Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Edition (SP2)

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (SP2)

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition

Microsoft Vista™ (32- and 64-bit) Home Basic, Home Premium, and Ultimate

with no problem !

Which of the 4 Video cards they offer does it have ? ....... and how much RAM is fitted ?

If you play graphic intensive games (like 3D) you might want to consider a good graphic card ,if you get the latest nVidia card you should be fine with any game. As for editing photos and that, as long as you get a good processor and enough memory you should be fine. Look at the guide section in this forum , there is a good HOWTO explaining how to run XP faster. Apart from that , I think it doesn't really matter whether it's home pro or media (I could be wrong because I rarely use XP home and never used XP media) , I would go with whatever is cheaper.

Read here about 32 vs 64 bit
