It acts in a similar fashion to the way Adobe's Distiller would convert a document from within, say Microsoft Word, to a PDF format document.XMS is Microsoft's challenge to PDF, in a sense. It is an alternative document format so that any XMS capable application would be able to view and work with the document without any conversion being required.How well XMS will catch on outside of Micrsoft's own applications is an unknown. So far, it has not been a real challenge to available formats that offer the same features -- such as PDF. It does have some advantages over PDF (and other alternative formats) in electronic commerce as the documents can be digitially signed. It is more conducive than some alternative formats for using directly in RSS newsfeeds.It is completely optional.I deleted mine long ago. :)Remember this?
