Krenzathal Posted September 17, 2008 Report Share Posted September 17, 2008 Hi there!Recently I was a silly boy and downloaded an application without scanning it for a virus and hence my computer became a useless heap of bleeps and funny icons within minutes.Luckily I'm not that daft and keep all my windows files seperate from everything else so I reinstalled my windows XP Pro but I am having immense trouble installing Service Pack 2.Everytime I download it and run the program it says "File Is Corrupt" about halfway through the extraction. It doesn't matter how many times I download it or from where I still get the same thing.I had partial success when I went into safe mode and emptied my temp folders, but even then I only got so far and that has no effect at all now.Can anyone help me? I can't install my graphics card because it requires a feature that requires SP2 and I can't get other things like Live Messenger either and it's driving me mad.I'm running an Intel Pentium 4, 3.00GHz, 1.5GB ram if that helps.Thanks! I downloaded the file from the microsoft site using the standard "Save as" downloader. I really don't think it is the file as I used the same one I downloaded a few times and it had varying stages of success every time, but nothing solid, and then after multiple downloads from the microsoft site and various other ones it's still exctly the same problem. Did you format the drive and do a fresh install, or did you run the CD over the previous installation? I have reinstalled XP several times after a format and have NEVER had any bother at all. AutostreamerI tried the Autostream but it says that my SP2 file is not valid and I must select a valid one.
