ebo_obe Posted September 18, 2008 Report Share Posted September 18, 2008 I have recently been given a laptop as a present it is Windows Vista (Basic) i'm not too sure what that means...(basic) but whenever i go onto Microsoft Word it says enter Product Key and i have no idea where it will be or how to get it.Does this mean i will have to buy a CD or something with microsoft offce on it or something if i want to access it. Or will there be some way to get a product key. It tells me to check the CD case or packaging i got but dont seem to have any cos it was given to me??Help please!!! I'd check the packaging for that specific machine and see if it came with the office trial......it's pretty common.I personally still use Office 2000....works great with XP and Vista, and doesn't require WPA, just the original serial number from when I purchased it. I would return to the retailer and ask them where the product information is. It is illegal for them to sell software without a key attached to it.
