doug Posted September 21, 2008 Report Share Posted September 21, 2008 Pleading here on behalf of a friend down in London. She rang earlier to say that she had lost her desktop in Windows 2000. I seemed to have happened after she opened an attachment to an e-mail from her Uni. She has AcAffee and has update it and subscribed for a further 12 months but seems to have lock up. So I am thinking there has been some corruption. I'm not that familiar with Win 2000 so have been trying to see - by 'phone if there is a System Restore function available but, so far we haven't been able to locate it. I'm thinking of asking her to do a system Restore to a couple of days back to before this all started. Then an on-line Trend House call. Then installing AVG 8 free and depending on what I can find out regarding her firewall, getting her to install Zone Alarm Free. Any help here will be very welcome folks. Tried telling her over the 'phone to look in start/programs/accessories/system tools but it wasn't there! Was this correct for Win 2000? Certainly looks as though monica will have to have this problem the hard way. She is a member as of a few years back but has forgotten her password so I'm hoping she'll ask for a re-fresher and come in and post herself.
