missrobinson Posted October 3, 2008 Report Share Posted October 3, 2008 I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista. I got it back in June for Graduation... Well all of a sudden this past month i've been having little problems with it.-First, my passwords won't automatically save to accounts I use, when they used to before.-Second, when I go to ABC.com or somewhere to watch tv episodes that I missed, it has immense lagging which I never had before. So now I can't even watch them without stop ang go, fast forwarding, and pausing every 1 and a half seconds. And it seems that the lagging is also throughout my computer as well.Even my iTunes has a lag to it. It's like I have to sit and wait for it to catch up with me, when before it seemed to run perfectly fine.Ive tried restoring the laptop. But the earliest restore date I have is on Aug. 30th. So i'm thinking something happened before that though...So I don't know what to do.Oh, and I used to have McAfee Virus protection, but the subscription is over.So i'm thinking it may have something to do with a virus or bug.ANY HELP would be great. Google Toolbar, GoogleDesktop, IM software, etc. try uninstalling some of them to release some memory.Also, scan your laptop for spyware. If you can watch downloaded videos normally, then this would be the case.Passwords are saved in cookies; do you have any cleaning software that may remove cookies?If you no longer have any active virus protection, then you either need to renew your current antivirus software, or uninstall it, then install another antivirus software immediately. There are good, free antivirus softwares available; forum members will be happy to advise you on this subject.Meanwhile do an online scan for malware on http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ - use the v6.6 link at the bottom for Vista. Belatucadrus Posted October 5, 2008 Report Share Posted October 5, 2008 Here's a list of the free anti virus products, some are better than others, all are better than a time expired version of anything.Download one, disconnect from the internet, uninstall the existing anti virus, then load the replacement.Avast!AVGAviraComodoRisingPC ToolsMore or less in my order of preference, though others will disagree.
