strangeseraph Posted October 6, 2008 Report Share Posted October 6, 2008 For all the complaints people have had about Vista, I wish they could see me and my late adoption of XP due to ancient hardware. I WISH I could run Vista!So what do I need to do to prep my laptop for the XP install? After backing up my rant, do I need to run some sort of formatting with win 2000 to clean up the computer before full install XP? I want a fresh install. I'll also have to make sure I have the right ethernet driver for my laptop so that I can connect to internet on start up. Don't think my laptop ethernet supported out of box by XP, it wasn't by Windows 2000. I still have a laptop with Win2K, and I am very happy with it. Microsoft still supplies updates, so it's pretty secure.Some new software won't run on Win2K (Windows Defender, QuickTime 7, ...), but that's OK.
