I have XP on the 300g hard drive and Vista on the 120g. What I am asking is there a way to choose which hard drive to boot to without changing the boot sequence/ hard drive pins.Basically, my computer messed up earlier and I had Vista installed on my slave so I could repair my XP installation because my XP disk was to scratched to boot with. hal.dll was corrupt but I managed to clean the disk enough to copy HAL>DL_ from the xp cd, extract the dll, then replaced the corrupt one with the new one. After that, I decided I wanted to keep Vista on the slave and use it but I am having problems trying to boot Vista with XP fixed now. So I am asking is there a way to load Vista on the slave drive without having to change the hard drive pins and boot sequence.As for making a duel boot drive, I kinda don't want to do that just yet. I have read that you can mess up your installaton/hard drive making multiple partitions on one hard drive and I really don't want to lose my XP installation as I have no way to get reinstall XP now that my XP CD is to damaged to boot with now. Would it be a good idea to attack a combination of wire and switched to the pins on the back of the hard drives in such a way that one side of the switch makes it a slave drive and the other makes in a master.I know electrically speaking, a jumper and a wire attached to a switch is indifferent from each other. I know the hazards of flipping the switches while the computer is on but are there any other potential problems that would keep this from working?
