But you can also use the Windows XP ntbackup program to create a complete, compressed system backup. It will also allow you to restore individual files or folders. andsome Posted November 11, 2008 Report Share Posted November 11, 2008 There is no need to use Acronis for backing up separate folders that you want to save, even though this is easy. Personally, I only use Acronis to make a complete mirror image of the system to a separate plug in hard drive on a USB connection. In readiness for a new computer within the next couple of weeks, I have created separate folders on a plug in hard drive, and dragged all that I want to save to these folders. When the new computer is set up, these folders will be dragged to the new machine, and then I will clear the plug in drive, and using Acronis, I will create a mirror image of the new machine.
