alternate text in ms word

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm working on a translation project that would display a text in a foreign language, its phonetic pronunciation and its translation. I would like that these three kinds of text alternate line by line, I mean: on the 1st line the 1st kind, on the 2nd the 2nd, on the 3rd the 3rd kind, and again 1st, 2nd, 3rd kind, and so on.

I've tried doing it using a 3 rows table, but it doesn't behave as I would like.

Could you please help me finding a way of doing this? Thank you!

I assume you are using Word with Windows. If so do you know about the Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator (HERE) ? It enables you to work with different virtual keyboards instead of having to use the tortuously slow insert character feature. Unfortunately, it's much too complex for a simpleton like me to understand but by patient searching with key words I was able to download a little ready-made utility to enable me to work with English and Pali keyboards.

The task you want to accomplish is fairly common these days & there must be ready-made packages available for free if you search for them.

I also suggest browsing through some of the Word user groups.
