Up until yesterday it worked fine, it's 5 years old and a bit slow, but still worked.Last night my daughter tried to use it and it can't detect any internet. It's connected by a router so I took that out and tried to connect via modem, still nothing. I've checked the LAN settings and they are working fine. Irene Posted November 16, 2008 Report Share Posted November 16, 2008 If it was OK before yesterday, just a quick one to try...First check that all cables are fully connected from computer/router (which you may have done already).Do a System Restore through, Start - Help and Support - then Undo Changes (Under Pick a Task). Select a date when you know it was working OK and restore. jakerleen Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 16, 2008 Hiya I did that before posting :)still no internet.I have gone onto device manager and it shows 5 motorola modems (god knows why) and 3 of them say corrupt, the other two are ok though. It said I could uninstall them so I did and still nothing. Do you think the modem could be causing any problems? We have had loads of toruble with virgin recently, the internet has been on and off like no tomorrow and although the laptops are ok, a few people I know have had to have new modems in the area.I think I'm clutching at straws here lolJackie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We certainly have some who use Virgin. :) In the meantime, perhaps you could try disconnecting the moden completely, uninstalling all of the modems, then reinstalling from the beginning.... What do you actually get on the screen? And are you using IE7 or IE8? They have an internet problems diagnostic tool which can be accessed by right clicking on Tools even on a blank IE page.
