ryan18 Posted November 17, 2008 Report Share Posted November 17, 2008 Hey guys,So i was partitioning my hdd on my laptop using partition magic when it says i should backup my partitions with a "removal drive" ie. "diskette" i thought this was a usb drive but i think it meant a floppy drive. Anyway i acidently used a usb 2gb pen drive and it came up with a error – not enough space left on the drive. I think that it has changed something so now my computer thinks that it is a floppy disk?Im running windows xp.. Oh and when i try to open one of those folders it says:"Filename" is not accessable.The filename, directory name, volume label syntax is incorrect.Please guys i need to get this data back as it has years and years of university work that has not been backed up anywhere else.Thanks alot. It appears that as there was not enough space on your USB drive to back up the partition to, the image on it is incomplete and therefore unreadable.Sorry that this doesn't solve your problem :( Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But anyway, by partitioning you don't lose any data; it should still all be there.I just backed up one of my systems to a USB memory stick (16GB), and it was just barely enough. (Not links to some external host; but upload here at the forum.)Its like the files are still there as you can see in the screenshot but they are in a different format or something is telling them to behave differently..
