I have just had a new computer built, and I made sure that I bought an installation disc with SP3 already on it. In order to find a possible answer for you I have just looked in Add/Remove programs, and it does not show there. So it looks as though the answer is that you can't. On my old computer, I installed SP3 as an update, and it did show up in Add/Remove programs. SP3 has so many critical updates on it that it would be a senseless thing to do to remove it, even if you could. :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Belatucadrus Posted November 21, 2008 Report Share Posted November 21, 2008 It may be possible to snag an SP2 update disk of some friendly person as Microsoft was fairly generous distributing them with magazine cover disks, something they didn't do with SP3.That said, what are you hoping to achieve ? I know some people with Norton had problems installing it but if it comes as part of the installation package it may not be removable. y2khardtop Posted November 21, 2008 Report Share Posted November 21, 2008 SP3 "upgrades" can be removed via the control panel, but OEM installs likely cannot. I imagine you'll need to get an XP disc and do a clean install, then upgrade (if necessary) to SP2. Techunit Posted November 22, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 22, 2008 I have a SP2 disc and have reinstalled the computer... Dell told me there is no possible way to do such a uninstall... only if it was a none OEM upgrade could you do the uninstall... which I already knew about.For this laptop I had to change the SATA function to ATA(in BIOS) to install the Windows XP SP2... or for that matter maybe just a Windows install period.I reason why is because we have equipment that will not function currently on SP3.... period... therefore we run SP2. once the manufactures get up to date... we will install SP3.Thanks for replying. case closed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
