I have been using a free video capture software package for a few weeks which is proving to be useful and easy to use.

I can capture video plus audio clips from the internet, my webcam or other sources and save them to my hard drive for viewing later - or record any other screen movements complete with the original audio track - or add one of my own.

That awful Firefox has Download Helper that seems to do the same thing, and also has a format converter plug in that works either on the fly or off line.
