osi
Ever since I got my HP m9340f with Vista Home Premium, I've been unable to listen to online music clips (like on Amazon), watch online video (like on Youtube), or download music off of iTunes. Everytime I try to download something off iTunes it tells me the internet connection has timed out. Yet, when I run diagnostics, I'm told that the internet is connected and running fine. However, I have noticed that my internet is slow and sometimes incredibly unresponsive (and I'm on a relatively fast broadband service-Cox Communications). I have Norton security but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with this or not. Is something not configured properly in Norton or the internet, or could it be something else? Please help! catgate
To me it sounds as though you have a filter of some sort working, which could well be Norton. Knowing nothing about Norton, other than how crap it used to be, I can only suggest you look at any settings it might have. The alternative would be to remove it and install another firewall such as Zone Alarm and an anti virus filter such as AVG.
osi
I have a strong feeling you may be right. I'll take a look at the settings and see if I can make any sense of them; if not, I guess I'll see if I have less trouble with another security program. Thankyou for the advice!! andsome
Are you updated with Java and Shockwave player and Flash player etc? Norton could be causing a slow down, it is a real pain in the rectum. It probably came with the computer. Manufacturers get paid handsomely for distributing such rubbish software. This is why I have only ever bought computers from private computer builders, that way I get a full installation disc and only the software that I ask for. :D
