Unless you do just a Windows repair.I know of no way that allows you to back-up your other programmes and reload them to a new Windows installation - you will need to reinstall them from the original CD/DVD or downloaded installation files. Just copying programme file across will not work - they have to be properly installed.It is normal to back-up your data files and settings - reformat and reinstall Windows - reinstall your software programmes and finally copy your data and settings back. andsome Posted January 12, 2009 Report Share Posted January 12, 2009 Once reinstalled, by far the best thing to do is to save a mirror image of the whole system using Acronis or similar. You will never need to reinstall again, just load the image. This will automatically format the drive first. Unfortunately this is also true for malware. If malware is the reason you want to reinstall, then you should do a clean install, and you will lose all installed programs.I'm moving this topic to the main Windows forum.
